Wedding Planning

The day you have been longing for has come at last. Your partner has popped the question and you have unquestionably said 'YES'! Now what do you do? The reply to that easy question will make an enormous difference to how the real 'big day' goes.

The days when weddings were simple occasions that happened on family farms with the neighbours helping out are long gone. Nowadays the bride and the groom are the ones calling all the shots. Others will try to be involved, but overall, it's the two people marrying who determine what will happen on their big day

With so much to organise, it's astounding that weddings happen at all. When you consider that both the bride and the groom are probably holding down full-time jobs, who's got time to figure out all the details? And there are a lot of details to figure out.

Well the big secret is it is all in the plan. Having a considered plan that begins with choosing the perfect wedding date and closes with arriving at the most romantic honeymoon destination is the only way to stop nerves from frazzling and budgets from being blown.

Lots of tools are available to help you plan your wedding. It is up to you to determine which tool will work best for you and then you have got to be sure you use the tool you have chosen. Wedding planning tools vary in cost so prior to spending any cash, take a backward step and think for a minute about the b-word.

A 'budget' is essential because it is what will keep you and your partner (and anybody else financing the celebrations) from getting in debt. As unflattering as the word is, every wedding should begin with a budget. Wedding expenses can quickly run out of control because let's face it, everyone would like their big day to be magical.

To work out a budget for the big day, begin by figuring out who's going to be contributing and how much they can afford to put in. When you have the total amount to work with, you can then start to apportion the budget to the different parts of the wedding.

The wedding plans all start with the wedding date. Everyone would like to be a June bride, however with only four week-ends in this calendar month, not everyone can be. The wedding date you choose will have a substantial affect on your budget. A wedding during the busy summertime months will cost a lot more than one that is held off-season. Not only will the wedding date affect the price you will pay for everything from the function room to the photographer, it also affects availability.

Once the wedding budget and wedding date have been finalised, it's time to get busy.
