I am looking into destination weddings in the Caribbean and just don’t have a clue where to start. A cruise trip there is a possibility. What are some recommended budget-friendly romantic places out in the Caribbean such as resorts/beaches for weddings and honeymooners…

Any advice/recommendations appreciated!!

Destination Wedding?!?!?

I want to elope, but I don’t know where to begin. I live in the U.S., and I’d like to elope to Europe. I don’t really know where exactly, because I’ve never been there! Lol. I am NOT an island girl, and I do not want a beach wedding!!! I want to get married in December, and I love snow so it would be perfect if I could find a location that’s snowy in December. The wedding will be for just me and my fiance, but we want both a ceremony and a reception (Lol, basically a glorified dinner for two) for the two of us. I’m thinking of a beautiful castle or a romantic estate, but I have no idea where to begin. Please help!!! Thanks so much.

Wedding help….?

I read online some where that to have the perfect wedding, imagine perfect scenario in your head then try to recreate that. I’ve also heard that one is supposed to "be true" to yourself and your wedding.

The problem with these suggestions are that I have multiple ideas that I would be happy with.

Idea 1 — married in a flower field. I would love to have either an aqua trimmed dress or a pink trimmed dress. Very simple and pretty and romantic. This would cause the least trouble, and I would enjoy it just as much as my other themes.

Idea 2 — Married on a beach. Mine and my b/fs relationship have had a lot of water and beach motifs so I figured it’d be nice to go to the beach. However, we live inland, so this would be a destination wedding. That causes trouble with the families. My Aunt would throw a fly because she would say I picked the location so she couldn’t come, among other inconveniences. Plus, i have no idea where to start in a destination wedding.
Idea 3 — Rocker wedding. I’ve always been a bit of a punk rocker and it’s always been a dream of mine to live a little on the wild side, even if it is for just one night. I can see some winged eyeliner and a crazy dress.

Can someone help me sort out these very different ideas?

My boyfriend’s old college roommate is getting married next month.

It’s a destination wedding, and the dress code is "evening formal"

So.. My boyfriend and I are buying formal clothes ( The bride sent xeroxes of what was acceptable.)

we bought our tickets ( $ 1,600.00 ) and we booked our hotel. ( 0.00 ) And we will be paying for taxis and meals too.

We have already spent SO MUCH money,My BF is in Grad school so money is tight but we have to go. ( My fella is really close to this his friend.)

The bride emailed me and asked us to get into the country a few days earlier than planned.

How can I tell her nicely that we can’t afford much more.

Also, the wedding registry is very expensive! They registered at Tiffany’s and nieman marcus.

I told my BF maybe we could get them something romantic and sweet? like, Cinderella Champagne glasses? or, monogrammed bathrobes? Mr and MRS… ( their last name)

I’ve never been to a wedding before much less a fancy destination wedding.

What is the polite thing to do?

my finace and I moved to a new city and we are planning a destination wedding not a large one maybe 40-50 guest …

My finacee supports me and pays our bills but i like to work and was planning on paying for the wedding because he does so much for me . We don’t want a court house wedding due to the fact that it just isn’t romantic. we had the date picked out

I started a small business in a city about 40 miles from where we are in and it was growning and going well i just found out that my lease is being pulled and i am losing the business i just started a few months ago. so now i will not have any income and starting a new business just befor the date is going to be hectic. and transfering my clients to a new city may not work.

He says don’t worry he will pay for everything but i am so bummed out. I don’t want him to pay for a thing There is no other jobs in the city we are in it is a very industrial town. what should i do need some advice.

I have my heart set on a destination wedding, family disagrees?

My boyfriend is about to propose, (we’re not into surprises, although I don’t know where or how it will happen, I know it will soon), and brought up the idea of a destination wedding to his family. I did not want him to bring it up until we were officially engaged, but he did anyway. I wanted to wait until I had all my facts, costs and reasons ready to present to both families before anyone had a cow over it. I have been doing research on these types of weddings, and find that my heart is set on one. My BF was on the same page, until talking to his family who are giving him all the reasons why we shouldn’t do a DW. They’ve convinced him that great friends, family and others won’t come due to costs and reminded him that we’ve put in a lot of money for their weddings on gifts, etc. Me being a budget friendly lady myself, I am only researching islands and resorts that are not expensive to fly to, and are reasonably priced for guests. I even talked to reps at these places who said when we are ready, we can talk about packages that could be even more reasonable. The idea of having the "same old type of wedding" at home makes me sick. I’ve always loved the islands and the idea of being married on a beautiful beach. I don’t care about getting gifts, or money. I just want to marry the man I love in the most romantic place on Earth. Advice?
BTW-I plan weddings myself so I’m aware of residency rules the islands have, peak time cost, all the red tape, etc. Thanks!

Destination Weddings From Family/Guests Perspective?

Now understand from the bridal couple’s point of view how exotic & romantic a destination wedding is….my question is directed at family & friends of these ‘destination’ couples…..how do you feel from a financial point of view in attending one of these, especially if it’s for a close family member….would/could you drop a few thousand on transportation & accomodations to see a 20 minute ceremony with a sit down dinner afterwards? Have any of you been unable to see a sibling or relative marry because of lack of finances in attending? Are there any parents of brides & grooms who couldn’t attend their own kid’s wedding because it was a destination wedding and they just couldn’t afford it?…I’d like to hear some honest opinions on this…..all responses welcomed, especially those who were expected to pay their own way and for their own accomodations…..and those who have attended such affairs.
No one is talking about minimizing the importance of the wedding ceremony..some are short, others are not, all are equally special..I’m takling about all the money involved in getting to it and attending it…THAT is the jist of my question, NOT whether the ceremony is any less important because of how long it is or where it takes place…….

Is it really selfish to have a destination wedding?

Although im not getting married yet, ive always wanted to have a destination wedding in the carribean. The problem is im starting to hear that destination weddings are selfish for the bride and groom to have and that i dont understand. I told my mom and family about it and they just cringed. I never wanted a big wedding either way so i thought that it would be romantic and perfect to have one. I do feel bad for the people who wont be able to attend but i figured i can just show the wedding video at the reception or something like that. I wont expect the guest to pay for everything on their own… and they really dont have to come if they dont want to. To be honest I just want our immediate families to attend. That way we can have a nice dinner after or something. Sorry this is so long but im really curious about others experiences or opinions. So what do you think? Is it really a bad or selfish idea to have a destination wedding? Any comments would be greatly appreciated
Wow… thanks for everyone who commented and also for the people who did explain to me why destination weddings are selfish. The reason i wanted one b/c i could always picture myself and fiance on the beach and the beautiful sunset in the back.. Its a dream of mine but now seeing some of everyones reasons why they dont like it im starting to wonder if its the best idea. Its a lot to think about…
